[ Katsuki is quiet then, mindful of the food that is to be eaten between them. From time to time, he insists on Izuku eating a few more things, looking him over to ensure that he doesn't look too sick or queasy from everything that gets eaten. As long as nothing else comes up from Izuku's end, time will pass, and he will start cleaning up the dishes bit by bit. He doesn't even seem to ask Izuku to help him with cleaning up the mess that he made from cooking.
Katsuki is just quiet, tending to the dishes and arranging things to be put away. ]
[All of it was good. Probably tastes all the better to Izuku after not having had a proper meal like this in a while. Even if the other might not have considered it anything fancy. He's happy enough to try things if Bakugo suggests it, but is trying to be mindful not to eat too much so that he might make himself sick. Izuku finishes his mouthful, swallowing and standing, heading to the other side of the bench after he has finished, and Bakugo has started clearing the table.]
Mm. Uh, want me to help? You cooked, so I can do the dishes?
[He wants to help. That seems only fair after Bakugo had cooked the meal. He's feeling a bit more energetic after eating and resting for however long he had been sleeping before Bakugo woke him. So Izuku doesn't mind helping out.]
[ Katsuki doesn't even account for that - as far as he was concerned, in this present moment. He wanted to give Izuku the time to feel comfortable and find his own bearings again. The blonde was content with doing everything and even washing the dishes alone, but as his eyes fall back onto Izuku's figure. Kastuki considers what the other says carefully, realizing it would be best to let the other help. ]
[Izuku figures he can at least help dry the dishes that the other had already washed, and help put things away. Or something like that, so he isn't in Bakugo's way or anything. He's feeling a bit better than he was. So he doesn't mind helping out. He approaches and gets a teatowel, standing next to Bakugo and starting to dry the dishes that the other had washed. He just figures this way Bakugo wasn't doing absolutely everything himself. Sure, Izuku was probably going to need another day or two to properly recover from pushing himself the last few months. But that doesn't mean he's incapable of helping with the dishes. He rolls up his sleeves so they don't get wet, hoping he doesn't drop anything and trying to keep the dishes above the bench just in case.]
[ Katsuki washes the plates, placing them on the rack for Izuku to dry, but as his eyes continuously pay him mind. He finds himself getting annoyed by him, just highly aware of his presence. It agitates him, making him find some reason, any, to just gargle at him with a complaint. ]
That's not how you dry the dishes - did you forget? [ Flicking his hands dry, Katsuki moves to step towards Izuku. Coming closer to him enough so that Izuku's shoulder presses against Katsuki's chest. He's come in close to take the boy's hand within his own, and try to move it in a clockwise motion. Drying the plate in a circle as opposed to up and down.
He's touched him, though, his hand holding fast along Izuku's, realizing how battered they are compared to his. ]
[Izuku had not done dishes in a while, so he is out of practice. But that doesn't mean he is that hopeless. He doesn't think, anyway. He's more mindful of trying not to accidentally drop the plate he was drying when Bakugo shifts closer and reaches for his hand like that. He's not necessarily unused to being so close, given their sparring and training at times, and the communal baths. But even so. He's trying to remain still when he feels Bakugo behind him. Izuku isn't aware how the other might be taking more note of the state of his hands, even amid them being a little damp and soapy from drying off the dishes.]
Always comin' back with more marks than before... [ It's a soft scolding, one that is spoken gently to him from behind but nothing more than that. He lets Izuku's hand go once he feels comforted that he is going to dry the plates the way - HE TRULY wants them to be dried. ] Get rest tonight.
[ He moves back to his side, where the dishes were waiting to be washed. ]
Tomorrow, too, we'll be training with everyone once things are good. Feel free to see your mom tomorrow if you'd like; it's a two-day break for us.
Hm? Oh. My hands and arms? Y-yeah, I know those have been kinda messed up.
[He's been warned that if he isn't careful, he could well lose the use of them if he keeps pushing himself so much. But, at the same time, it isn't like he really has another choice. He has to do whatever he can. Especially against All For One. Izuku can't help seeming a little sheepish, a little insecure about his hands. It helped that he often wore gloves, so he didn't have to worry about them. But he couldn't wear gloves all the time. He just tries to focus on finishing drying the dishes that Bakugo hands him.]
[He hasn't really. Not in a while. Bakugo isn't wrong, he should probably try to relax and rest as best he can before they start training again and planning their next move. He helps continue to dry the dishes and put them away as Bakugo passes them over after washing them.]
I dunno. Maybe watch a movie or something? What were you thinking?
[Something he can relax and easily absorb. Something that isn't researching or sleeping.]
[He isn't sure if he wants to think about how much he will have to catch up on with school. He could get to that in a couple of days. For now, Izuku is trying to take Bakugo's advice. Just try to relax. Focus on recovering. On what he can do to prepare for what was to come without overdoing it. Giving himself a bit of time first.]
Hm? Ah. I didn't have anything in particular in mind. Just something lighter? Not too serious or anything.
[ It hits him a bit in this moment that - they are just... Kind of talking. The words exchange back and forth in a comfortable way, even if what Katsuki says can often come off as blunt and mildly rude. ]
Yeah. [ Thinking about all the years they could have just sat, talked, and really enjoyed one another's company. Something about it twists in his stomach, and just makes him angry all over again. ] Whatever, I'm not studying, just cleaning.
Oh. So it's okay? If we watch something after finishing the dishes?
[Izuku has gradually gotten more comfortable. More confident to just talk normally to Bakugo. It's taken time, given his experience with bullying and everything. But he's gotten to a point where this isn't something Izuku reads into. That he needs to kind of hype himself up to talk to Bakugo, with how nervous he might have been before. He's used to Bakugo and his temper, how he tends to communicate most of the time. He expects it. Wouldn't change it. That's just how the blonde is.]
[ Katsuki flinches at the sound of that, but easily falls back into washing the last dish. Keeping his thoughts occupied as they race around thinking intrinsically what this all could mean - no, it doesn't have a big meaning. That's what messes Katsuki up about it.
He thinks, after everything that has gone down between them, that this sort of peace offering Izuku presents is just beyond him. It's so obvious how Izuku wants to be normal and has always wanted to just do simple things like this with him.
It hurts.
His stomach vaults and churns, the grip around the dishes tightens, and he tries to keep himself from getting too angry at how he feels and how Izuku is just so kind to him. Everything he's not is a constant reminder of how far he is from being what a Hero should be. ]
Yeah. [ He answers, handing the last plate over and beginning to clean off the kitchen sink so the soap suds don't cling to it. Keeping it spotless is extremely important to him, especially in this moment where his mind needs to cling to something normal.
Katsuki doesn't know how to say yes without sounding like an idiot - he really.... He really wants that more than anything, for some reason. Deep down. ]
Do you wanna watch the new few episodes of Kamen Rider?
Alright. Yeah, sure. Kamen Rider sounds good to me.
[He isn't really reading into it. Beyond that Bakugo might just want to keep an eye on him as he recovers. Given Izuku's tendency to overdo it. To push himself and get himself hurt. But he doesn't see how that could happen if he is just sleeping or watching something. It's simple, but something he had maybe missed a little. Sitting and watching movies or television shows with friends. He takes the last plate and dries it, reaching to put it away with the rest, placing the used teatowel to be washed as Bakugo finishes, ensuring the sink and bench are cleaned.]
It's in my room, [ He suggests a bit, looking away. He's never let Izuku into his room really. ] not sure if you wanna go in it? I can grab the recording and bring it out here, up to you either way.
[He isn't sure if he had actually been in the other's room. There hadn't necessarily been a reason for him to, really. But Izuku doesn't mind. If Bakugo is okay with it. Izuku had just figured they would watch something in the lounge. They seem to be the only ones here, so he supposes it doesn't particularly matter, either way. He's not against the idea of watching something in the other's room if Bakugo prefers.]
Were you thinking of grabbing it from your room and watching it in the lounge or...?
That's what I mean dumbass, [ He answers, though, his voice doesn't collect any more anger to it then it normally has. ] I can grab it from my room for the lounge, or we can go to my room. If you don't wanna go into my room, just say so!
I just wanted to be sure what you meant, is all. I don't mind. We can watch it in your room.
[Not that it is far, but it saves them coming back out here to the lounge and kitchen area. Izuku figures that it is easier, and he doesn't really mind where they watch it. As long as Bakugo was okay with them watching it in his room. The blonde probably wouldn't mention the idea if he weren't, though. He is too full to consider that he might want anything to eat while watching a movie, and doesn't want to risk anything spilling in the other's room anyway.]
Then, hurry up, [ Katsuki scowls just a bit, finishing up what he needed to and wiping down the table one last time. ] the dishes are done, we can just head over.
[ Once the table is wiped down, he tosses the towel into the bin, which needs to be washed later. Moving towards the stairs and heading up to his room, step by step. He's rather expectant in that Izuku is going to follow him right after, not looking back even when he's at his door and opening it up to enter inside.
Unlike Izuku's room, Bakugo's is simple. Minimalistic with training items spread out and placed in clean corners of the room. His room is both clean and organized.
Presuming Izuku followed him, Katsuki grumbles - ]
[Izuku shifts, turning and hurrying to follow the blonde. He isn't too far behind, at least, as they head upstairs and he lets Bakugo lead the way, even if he does know which room is his. He's just not really been inside like this. He hadn't had reason to. He glances when told where to sit and just seats himself at the other's desk on instinct. That seems somehow a little less personal? Than choosing the bed.]
Here?
we can time skip a bit if u want? to him going to bed/leaving?
[ The right choice, Bakugo would have scolded him for sitting on his bed unprompted. The respect Izuku shows in Bakugo's room makes him feel more comfortable about this, letting the other into his space. Having never really done this before. ]
I'll put it on, if you want, you can sit on the beanbag - usually Spikey Hair sits on that when he's here. [ Katsuki drags out from his closet a bean bag chair that neatly fits in a spot where it belongs - in that closet. When he pulls it out, he plops it between the bed and the TV. Katsuki decides to sit on the floor with his back to the bed. ] I'll put it on.
[Izuku is more the sort to err, usually on the side of caution, being respectful and polite for the most part, especially in someone else's space. Even if he might sometimes be reckless, it is usually more with his own safety than with him making a mess or anything in someone else's room. He thanks the blonde and sits in the beanbag next to Bakugo. He doesn't question that the other sits on the floor. If that's where Bakugo wants to sit.
He lets Bakugo put on the show, sitting back and watching with the other, simply enjoying spending time together. Eventually, his eyes start to close, and his head lolls to rest on Bakugo's shoulder next to him. It isn't intentional that he starts to doze off on purpose. He wants to watch the show and spend time with Bakugo like this. It's just that he is also still recovering from everything over the last few months. He's evidently comfortable enough around Bakugo that he will fall asleep around the other. Or he's just still that exhausted, either way.]
[ Katsuki at first, doesn't realize what is going on. He's comfortable where he is, watching the show expand in front of him. Effectively, it is Power Rangers, but the Japanese version. A very popular show among adults and children alike, Sheep doesn't Know the exact storyline in it, but that's okay. Katsuki is very into it because it's about Heroes, and it's about coming together over the years to continue saving other people - with robots and shit.
He's a bit noisy a few times, and means to ask Izuku's opinion on it as the next episode comes on. However, he notices the way Izuku's head sags, and then suddenly, Izuku's dozed off against his shoulder.
Katsuki wants to shrug him off - an instinctive feeling from years of being the way he has towards Izuku; however, he stops himself. Thoughts circling in his head, he looks at the other as he rests against his own shoulder. Absolutely, caught by surprise, unsure of what to do. Feeling himself tense up and unable to move - ]
F-Fuck... [ It comes out like a whisper, which in itself surprises him. He is minding his tone, because Izuku is asleep, he is caring in a way that isn't entirely new, but isn't the way he ordinarily acts. Especially towards Izuku. Katsuki is a proud person who is unapologetic about who he is. At this moment, he feels apprehensive about whether he should move or wake him. Except, he's finding realization that whatever he does will negatively impact Izuku and that he should just - keep put; that feeling makes his stomach churn because he's never felt that way before.
Why? Butterflies...
Katsuki cares for others immensely, just as much as Izuku, but the way he holds himself and acts on it is far different from anything anyone ever comes to understand. In this moment, he's considering what anyone else would do.
He.... Sits there, frozen, and the moment that Izuku wakes up from this, the show still ongoing, he's going to pretend that he fell asleep too. ]
