[ It's been silent in the room, and the dorms are roughly unoccupied for the time being. That is, outside of Aizawa, somewhere several floors down, within his office. Then, Katuski Bakugo, lingering there now over the silhouette of Izuku's body as he slumbers under the deftly placed blankets over his figure.
Katsuki's crimson eyes are locked onto him, as if at any moment he would get up and leave them, breaking a promise of some sort. However, Izuku has remained on the bed unmoved for the most part. Sleeping away for hours at a time, nearly a whole day to boot. As such, Katsuki stays there earnest in his belief in Izuku by this point, and for every word he has said since that moment he apologized to him.
Before this moment, hours ago, there was a brief exchange between the students about whether they should split into parties to keep the situation at the dorms safer. Just in case any issues arose, or to keep everyone together. Seeing as Izuku was back, there were still muddled feelings among the people regarding this. With concerns among the students and staff, what could become of it?
After a refreshing session of conversation with the UA Principal and Aizawa backing him up, it was decided that many students could leave and visit their families. Ensuring their transition into this new area had gone smoothly. Knowing that at this time, the Dorms would be safe, Katsuki Bakugo, along with Aizawa, promised that they wouldn't leave the building's enclosure.
It wasn't as if they would be gone the entire day either, really, only until the evening. Which then leaves Katsuki Bakugo there, filling his time rather pointlessly. Often, heading into the room where Izuku rested to ease his frayed nerves after having seen Izuku run off as he did—leaving only a note for him and everyone else to read in tow. Knowing full well at that moment when he ripped it up, that he was so close to losing Izuku to a world that was trying to reject his ideals.
The ideals that he wanted to see to the end, that pushed him every day to be better than who he was. If Izuku was gone, not even physically, but gone mentally, was a world where someone like Izuku can't exist, even worth being a Hero in?
It wasn't. Izuku is the only reason why Katsuki's own idea of Heroism is challenged, changed, and evolves into something more. Without Izuku, what would Katsuki be?
These thoughts flounder in his mind, and often he finds himself walking over to the bed. Ensuring that Izuku's breath rises and falls with every moment that passes. It was weird to him that he felt uncomfortable and nearly panicked because one person, whom he hated the most, almost didn't come back at the end of it all. ]
Stupid...
[ He mumbles into the silent room that only seems to carry the audible sounds of both their breaths easing in and out of their chest.
Katsuki continues to linger there over him, then nimbly and curiously, at some point. With him standing there at the side of Izuku's bed for quite some time, Katsuki reaches out unknowingly. Attempting to move strands of Izuku's hair out of his own mouth. Crossing over the freckles along his face with a slight touch of his fingertips. ]
[Considering how he had left earlier to try and keep everyone else safe, and that he knows things are tense between everyone. That Uraraka was the only reason people seemed to have accepted his presence, it's something that Izuku hasn't fled off on his own again. But he's been far too exhausted for that. It was clear when the others from Class A had found him that he was pushing himself and nearing, if not almost past, his limits.
He barely made it through, having something to eat and having a bath before falling asleep. It probably helped that even with the tensions running high, he felt safe with his classmates. Izuku is currently still recovering from his time off alone, trying to find out about Shigaraki, too exhausted to run off yet, at least. He sleeps soundly enough that the blonde watching over him doesn't seem to disturb him. It's only when Bakugo touches him that he stirs, pouting sleepily and barely blinking his eyes open in groggy confusion.]
Kacchan...?
[Was something happening? He's sure the other would have been far more urgent or loud if there were an emergency. So Izuku remains rather still, his green eyes glancing up at the other in sleepy confusion.]
[ Katsuki very casually grabs a loose pillow and presses it over Izuku's face, as if nothing had just happened. Finding himself overcome with a mixed feeling of disgust and newfound sorrow. Uncertainty? He doesn't like it that Izuku woke up right in front of him, while he is standing over him like that. The implication alone churns the insides of his stomach and makes him feel something foul.
Nervously, and quickly he coughs up in a broken shout - ]
DON- [ Voice hoarse and rough while he still holds the Pillow over Izuku's face - not hard enough to cause him not to breathe. Just enough to block his view. ] GO BACK TO SLEEP DUMBASS!
[Izuku blinks at the pillow in his face suddenly, even more confused if that were possible. But he doesn't really struggle too much. He's too tired to. He's not quite awake enough yet for this to give him a major adrenaline rush. Bakugo wasn't hurting him or anything. He was just. Well, whatever he was doing. Watching out for him. Maybe worried since things had seemed tense before. Maybe he thinks someone might try something, knowing Izuku was back at school? Izuku isn't sure exactly. Maybe he had something on his face, and Bakugo was just trying to help wipe it off? He fell asleep pretty soon after eating. He tenses a little, raising one hand slowly to try to lift the pillow off his face. It's a little harder to sleep with the yelling. He has no idea how long he was asleep, whether Bakugo might wake anyone else up.]
Kacchan? What's going on? Is everything okay...?
[Izuku tries to ask, though his voice is probably muffled by the pillow a little.]
[ Katsuki Bakugo innately struggles with his own feelings in this moment; there is no one else but the two of them in this room. He doesn't need to hide anymore, and yet, the absolved feelings that lay wrenched open in his chest from the day he apologized. Still seems to weigh heavily against him. ]
Yeah. [ The pillow is still engaged on Izuku's face, and he holds it here trying to figure out what to do next - walk away, walk away. Letting the pillow go, it rests fully to shape along Izuku's face, meanwhile Katsuki takes the moment to back away and make space between them so he doesn't get embarrassed about the fact that he was so close to him. ] Everyone's fine, they went to visit family - Sensei is here downstairs, [ A beat, tentatively and awkwardly he asks with a rough voice - ] you good?
[When Katsuki shifts, Izuku removes the pillow and glances at the other, still confused and sleepy but starting to wake up thanks to the other's yelling earlier. He shifts very slightly, but remains lying on the couch, glancing up at Bakugo. He puts the pillow to the side, his head tilting slightly as he listens.]
Okay. Y-yeah. I was just resting. Just sleeping. I'm fine. Do I have some food on my face or something?
[He reaches to clumsily and groggily wipe at his face where the other had touched him. It's easy enough to assume he might have still had some food there from dinner. He isn't necessarily reading into Bakugo doing that or being so close. He's far too exhausted to overthink right now. He's oblivious to the other's feelings, not having had much chance to catch up too much since he returned to the dorms. Izuku might not have necessarily even considered his own feelings beyond their friendship. That the other was important to him.]
NO? [ Did he have to be so honest about the situation? Had Katsuki the mind to lie in the moment, he could have used that as a means to cover up the situation, but he didn't. ] JUST FORGET ABOUT IT, ARE YOU GOING TO GET UP OR WHAT?
[ He's defensive, ] Lay down all day? At least fucking go upstairs to your room? You're going to end up with a sore back and neck, tch. Dumbass.
[Izuku starts a little at how loud Bakugo is, taking a moment to process what the other says amid the yelling. He's not sure what was going on with the other person, why his question about whether he had something on his face might have made the other mad. Izuku has no context for why that would upset the other. It's not something he would have figured would get such a reaction. That he would need to read into it or something.
He looks a little sheepish then, nodding as he shifts to sit up more.]
Ah, yeah. I probably should. I didn't mean to fall asleep like this.
Are you going to do anything else, [ Katsuki is nervous, he realizes he is telling Izuku what to do and hates that he accidentally did that - but he's also concerned too. ] or just fall into bed?
[He asks, swinging his legs over and removing the blanket someone had put over him after he had fallen asleep on the couch in the dorm room. Izuku isn't usually so used to napping, sleeping quite so much, so he's still kind of groggy and out of sorts as he stands and stretches, feeling a bit stiff from sleeping on the couch for however long. Bakugo is often yelling, telling him off for something or other, so it isn't anything he really seems to mind so much.]
If I don't sleep, I guess I could get something to eat. Or just try catch up on things.
[He hadn't really been the most up-to-date on things back when he was out there alone, trying to go after Shigaraki, getting information from any villains he came across. That and he had missed a decent amount of school.]
It's a rest day, [ Katsuki shuffles his hands into his pockets, staring the other down with a harsh but fairly neutral look. It's a concern, but it's an expression stuck amid his ever-present hatred of Izuku and whatever else is entangled, causing his nerves to run on edge. ] specifically for you - keep your mind out of things for now and figure out what you and your body need.
Ah? I guess. I just can't help feeling restless. Like I should be out there helping more.
[Even if he does need the rest. He probably still looks a bit of a mess, still looks exhausted even after resting as much as he had since he got back to the dorms. His hair is even more of a mess than usual from sleeping, and he has yet to brush it or anything since Bakugo woke him. Izuku knows that even he has his limits. But he's also used to ignoring those for the sake of helping others. Used to pushing through. Izuku accepts that his friends want to support him. Knows that he should rest and focus on recovering. Logically, he knows that, so he can be in the best shape for when he does face against All For One. But at the same time, he can't help feeling restless already.]
[ This was exactly why he stayed behind, exactly why he felt the way he did. Katsuki's nerves start to prickle, and his nose scrunches up just a bit. ]
What do you think we are all here for? Chop liver? [ Stepping forward, his steps are hard against the wooden floor beneath him. Closing in on them both with a quick shove of his hand against Izuku's shoulder. His voice is passionate, and there's a newfound fury to be found within. ] Cut it the fuck out and loosen up, you need to rest before you think you can take anything on - you think you're gonna win with a body like that?
Let's go stupid, are you hungry or what? [ Katsuki passes by him, walking forward in a general direction. ] Gotta baby you and hold your hand, tch.
Hm? Ah, I know you're all supporting me. I didn't say you weren't.
[He says, rubbing at the back of his neck and blinking when the other continues. Izuku's lips purse as he briefly glances down at Bakugo, telling him to rest. He knows that he has to recover. To be in better shape for a fight against All For One. He just wishes that he could do more.]
I know that. I know I have to rest and be ready to face him. That doesn't mean I don't feel like I should be doing more.
[Still, he sighs, the huff of air shifting his mess of bangs as Bakugo passes by, and he follows over to the kitchen. It wasn't like he had asked or expected the other to make him something. But he also won't turn down anything either. Bakugo did know his way around the kitchen well. And he had mostly been living off of snacks here and there when it was quieter and he had the chance to grab something, and whatever meals All Might had been bringing him.]
I didn't say you have to do anything for me? But yeah. I could eat.
[ Katsuki also hadn't said what he did, to make Izuku feel pressed by a weight of scrutiny. He finds his fists tensing up in his pockets, as if he said the wrong thing again and failed to make his point across. Now that everything was over, it was like he was trying too hard to look over his own words and actions. ]
Just hurry up then, what the fuck do you want to eat? Don't touch the kitchen, don't need your dirty hands getting all over and mixing everything in it. We just restocked. [ His steps continue towards the kitchen with an expectant look over his shoulder, insinuating that Izuku better be following close behind him. ]
What do I -- ? Oh. I hadn't thought about what I want yet. I don't know what we have. But uh, I don't mind. I'm not picky. I was mostly living off of snacks and whatever meals All Might was bringing me before, so. Whatever you make will be good.
[Since the other seems to be insistent on cooking it himself. Izuku pauses in front of the bench when Bakugo says not to touch the kitchen, raising his hands to show he hadn't touched anything yet. He'd just been following the other to make himself something. He's not going to be too picky. Whatever Bakugo wants to make will probably be fine, really.]
[ Something knots in his chest when Izuku talks about how all he had was snacks, living off of literal trash, it seems. It makes Katsuki look over at his body briefly. Taking note of how his muscles may have become a bit leaner from the improper intake of food. The more he looks at Izuku, the more his chest starts to ache, and his fists ball up tightly until he suddenly punches the counter angrily.
Eyes still locked with Izuku's. ]
Go take a shower shit head, I'm making Katsudon. [ Izuku's favorite food, there's a glare on his face though that says - don't fucking say anything. ] By the time you're done, it'll be ready.
[Izuku beams, pleased at the choice. He's oblivious to the other looking him over better. The only thing that he really paid attention to and tried to push past the last while was just how tired he was. Izuku didn't spare much time to really make proper meals, often on the go and grabbing quick snacks or whatever All Might would bring him to eat. He was always on the move. He hadn't necessarily taken time to notice the impact on his body. Not that he ever really paid that much attention to his appearance. How he looked. That he would have figured Bakugo would care or notice that much.
He nods when the other tells him to take a shower. The punch is unexpected, but it helps make his point that Izuku should go and leave him to it for now.]
Shower. Got it.
[He returns after a bit, wearing a change of clothes and having at least mostly dried his hair so that it isn't dripping wet, though perhaps wasn't patient enough to fully dry it completely. He has at least brushed it, though. So it isn't as much of a mess from sleeping. He sniffs, drawn to the delicious smell as he comes back out of his room.]
[ Besides the kitchen where the table is set, Katsuki has set up several plates. There is Katsudon, Kyuri Asazuke as a side, Shioyaki Sanma for an added meat - a fish to add to the essential needs, Izuku likely lacked. A tea that is placed for Izuku to drink, and two sets of plates for both of them to eat on. Dipping sauces have been equally scattered around for Izuku to take as he pleases, where Katsuki's sauce is his favorite Hot Sauce. ]
Just eat. [ Is his sharp voice, low but still carrying the aggression usually attributed to him. Katsuki Bakugo is placing a few additional side items on the plates, including a few dumplings and extra rice if needed. ] Don't eat too fast either, or you'll kill your stomach.
[Izuku approaches, admiring it all. Bakugo clearly put effort into all this. He almost wishes the others were around to enjoy it too. But they should get to go out and spend time with their families as well. Live their lives. He sits down, clapping his hands together and smiling as he thanks the blonde.]
Thank you for the meal!
[He waits for Bakugo to be seated despite the other telling him to just eat. Though the reminder to pace himself is probably a good one. Given that his stomach might not be ready for having this much. It's been a while since he had a proper meal and time to eat, however much he wanted. He picks up a little of almost everything to try it, taking a bite of the katsudon with a hum of approval. It's good.]
[ At the otherside of all this, Katsuki eats quietly. Minding his own thoughts that are garbled with uncertainties, upset that he can't seem to hunker down on any one thought. With how his eyes sometimes keep fleeting over to Izuku's frame. Taking into account how much training they will likely need to do in the coming days. Not to stress him either, but to ensure he is okay.
Without his realizing, he idly mutters a few thoughts about a training regime very quietly to himself as he reaches for his serving of katsudon. Dipping it into the sauce so that he can eat it alongside the rice in his bowl. ]
[Izuku doesn't necessarily quite catch all of it, the way Bakugo mumbles under his breath to himself, but he thinks the other is saying something about planning training sessions. Probably because Bakugo wants to avoid getting rusty. That he hadn't been out there fighting the escaped villains like Izuku? He assumes, or something like that, anyway. Izuku just tries to focus on the food, on the delicious flavours, and tries not to eat it all too quickly. His eyes might well be bigger than his stomach in regards to how much he eats, but he will get there in improving and recovering in time.]
Strength, training - so weight training. You're a bit lean, doesn't look like you've been eating much. In retrospect, it's fine because you've been active this entire time, but if you plan to excel at anything, you need to build muscle again and fast. [ He's quieter, staring at his food and eating mindfully. ] So eat up, but just not quickly.
Oh. Right. Y-yeah, I know I'll need to keep training. Get back to it. I just figured a day or two to rest first.
[To recover and feel somewhat human again, before pushing himself with training. Izuku can't help looking a little sheepish when Bakugo scowls at him. But he knows the other is trying to help in his way. And he isn't wrong. Izuku needs to keep training to be as prepared as possible for when they have a plan and take on All For One. He tries to focus on the food, eating slowly, but enjoying it. It's been how long now since he had a proper meal he could sit down and savor?]
[ Katsuki is quiet then, mindful of the food that is to be eaten between them. From time to time, he insists on Izuku eating a few more things, looking him over to ensure that he doesn't look too sick or queasy from everything that gets eaten. As long as nothing else comes up from Izuku's end, time will pass, and he will start cleaning up the dishes bit by bit. He doesn't even seem to ask Izuku to help him with cleaning up the mess that he made from cooking.
Katsuki is just quiet, tending to the dishes and arranging things to be put away. ]
